We have had a super busy week in Yellow class. In Maths we have been learning all about money, recognising the different coins and notes and finding different amounts and the difference in amounts. We have also been adding pounds and pence together. For example, £2 +5p +20p +£5 = £7 and 25p. In English this week, we have been looking at the different features that are needed to be included in a set of instructions, such as a title, introduction, using time connectives, imperative /bossy verbs, making sure it is in chronological order and a final note of thought. As part of this, we have been sorting some jumbled instructions into the correct order and then we have been making our very own Christmas cards, thinking about the steps we have taken and then we had a go at writing our own instructions. We did a fantastic job!

We had a wonderful day out on Tuesday, visiting Derby County Football stadium at Pride Park in Derby.
We had a tour around the stadium and grounds and found some very interesting facts. Looking at the differences between the home and away changing rooms, then walking down the tunnel onto the pitch. We were able to sit in the dug out and Jessica sat in Frank Lampard’s seat. Later we met Rammie the Derby County mascot before entering a colouring competition to win two tickets for a future match.
To start off a new term in English we have begun to use our imaginations to think about our wishes. We started by watching a clip from The film Mary Poppins. We watched the part where Mary, Bert and the children jump into the chalk drawings that Bert drew onto the pavement of the places he wished he could visit.
In class the children were given their own piece of magic chalk and a large sheet of black sugar paper. They were asked to use their imaginations and draw somewhere they wished they could go.
Take a look at our wonderful chalk drawings. Can you guess we we all want to go?
This week we have been reading books written by Ronda and David Armitage. The Lighthouse keeper’s Lunch, The Lighthouse Keeper’s Christmas were our favourite two books. So during D&T week we designed, built and evaluated our own lighthouse.Take a look at our hard work below.

Yellow Class have been busy thinking about different sentences in English this week. We now know how to write a question, exclamation and command sentence.
In Topic we have been thinking about the different materials the school is made of. We went outside and took rubbings of slate, bricks and glass. We then used these rubbings to create a collage picture of the school.
