Autumn Term 2 in Class 8
Week Beginning 19th October 2020
A big well done to everyone in Class 8 this week. You have all worked incredibly hard this half term and you are all making excellent progress.

Week beginning 12th October
Our star of the week this week is Amelia. She wrote an amazing speech all about the life cycles of plants, birds, mammals, amphibians and insects. This demonstrated her excellent understanding of our Science topic this term.
Homework - can we please remind all the children to read regularly at home and complete lessons on Reading Eggs. Remember to practise spellings and also complete the set tasks on Mathletics. Look out for an upcoming battle on TTRockstars!!
Please remember to return your parents evening slips if you have not already done so - phone call appointments will take place Tuesday and Wednesday evening.

Week Beginning 5th October 2020
Thank you to all of Class 8 for coming to school in yellow on Friday to support "Mental Health Day." The children have enjoyed taking part in mindfulness activities throughout the day. Class 8 enjoyed a free writing session where they could choose what to write whilst listening to calm music. The children made butterflies by weaving wool around lollipop sticks as well as enjoying fresh air, exercise and mindfulness colouring. A lovely calm and relaxing day!!!
Our Star of the Week this week is Riley. Well done for always working hard and trying your best
Week Beginning 28th September 2020
This week in Science the children have been learning about the British Scientist, Jane Goodall. Class 8 have produced some excellent work to advertise the Jane Goodall Institute and support endangered chimpanzees in Africa.
Week beginning 21st September
This week the children have written a Class Prayer. Mrs Knight was very impressed with all the ideas that the children came up with and we are proud of the end result. Class 8's motto is now:
WE ARE A TEAM, WE ARE A FAMILY!!
Week Beginning 14th September 2020
We have had another wonderful week in Class 8. All children have been given a reading book. Please encourage your child to read every day at home. The diaries will be collected in every Monday to see who has been reading at home. The 3 children who read the most each week will be able to have a luck dip in my "Lucky dip Toy Box."
Our star of the week this week is Cerys for impressing Mrs Woollett with her use of scientific vocabulary whilst learning about asexual reproduction in plants. Well done Cerys!
Week beginning 7th September 2020
We have had a super week in Class 8! All the children have worked so hard completing lots of tests and assessments and they have all tried their very best. Well done everyone for your positive attitudes towards learning - you are all superstars!
In Science we have started a new unit of work on "Living Things and their Habitats." This week we have been learning about how some plants reproduce.

PE days are TUESDAY and FRIDAY. Please come to school in your outdoor PE kit on those days. Please take out ear-rings or cover in medical tape. (Please provide your own). Please tie hair back and provide your own hair bands.
SPELLING TESTS will take place on a Friday. The spelling lists can be found on the Year 5 web page.
