Autumn Term 1
Our topic this half term is called: A Place to Call Home.
Week Commencing: 05.10.2020
This week we have been waiting for The Not So Big Bad Wolf to get back to us about using his manners and guess what.. IT WORKED!! But he needed our help again, so of course Green Class wanted to help. The Wolf needed help thinking of games to play with the Three Little Pigs, so as a Class we thought of different games to play inside and outside (because the weather is never the best) 🌦.
In English, we wrote a sentence about the games they could play and what would happen. In Maths, we worked hard focusing on comparing objects and numbers using language and symbols for greater than, less than and equals to. We also used language such as smallest and greatest when ordering objects and numbers. In Topic, we investigated materials houses are made from. We looked closely at the materials used to build houses and to make them sturdy. We then took on a challenge for The Three Pig Construction - building a house with straws, sweets, marshmallows and blue tac. The children worked in pairs to build houses, even when we found if difficult we DID NOT GIVE UP!!
This week we also welcome a new pupil Patrica. We made her feel welcome into our class, as she was worried at how different she was. We realised the importance of two British Values: Tolerance and Mutual Respect.
World Mental Health Day ☀️
On Friday, we all came dressed in yellow for World Mental Health Day. Throughout the day we learned about why and how we should look after our minds. We practised different strategies to help us BE CALM. We exercised, though about things we are grateful for, made lavender bags and worry dolls and practiced some breathing exercises.

Week Commencing: 28.09.2020
This week we received a letter from someone new - The Not So Big Bad Wolf! He was asking for our help. In English, we had a wonderful discussion about good and bad manners and acted out what the wolf should of said. We worked together to sort some good and bad manners pictures to send to the wolf. In Maths, we were comparing two groups and were introduced to some new symbols - greater than, less than and equals to. This was something new for us and came across some difficulties BUT we did not give up!! Miss Robinson and Mrs Green were super impressed with th the hard work in Green Class!
In Topic, we have been learning all about materials as this was our first task off the Three Pig Construction. We have explored Metal, Glass, Plastic, Wood and Fabric. Take a look at some of our photos to see all our hard work:
Week Commencing: 21.09.2020
What an exciting week we have had this week! In English, we received a letter from the Three Little Pig Construction asking us to join their company. We looked at the history of the Three Little Pigs using the story map and recited it using actions - It turns out the Big Bad Wolf blew their houses down so they needed to make stronger ones! We also made some tool belts and hats ready for our new jobs. In Maths, we learned how to count forwards and backwards, as well as counting one more and one less. In Topic, we have explored the five senses. We went on a senses walk and even used our senses whilst cooking popcorn - YUMMY! See our fun filled week below:
Week Commencing: 14.09.2020
Our first full week at school - COMPLETED! We have had a super week of learning. In English, we looked at a poem called All of Me by Jessica McDonald. We learned about what a poem is and recited the poem using actions. We also made our own versions of the poem by changing different parts. In Maths, we have been counting objects to 10 and learning how to represent them in different ways. In Topic, we learned about different parts of our bodies. Take a look at our photos below:
Week Commencing: 07.09.2020
What a wonderful first few days we have had in Green Class! Myself and Miss Meredith have thoroughly enjoyed having you all back in school. It has been lovely seeing the class back together and settling into our class bubble. Over the past two days we shared a story called All are Welcome and explored how we have similarities and differences. We created some self portraits after looking at our faces and have put them on display! Take a look at our first week of fun below:
