Welcome to Orange Class!

Animals, animals everywhere!
Check out this awesome bug hotel that Alfie made with his Dad. He even used a hammer and drill to put it together! We can't wait to hear about who comes to stay inside the hotel. The bugs will definitely have shelter and protection here. Super work, Alfie!
Home Learning Summer Term
Home learning is still going strong! Children in Orange class are enjoying learning about animals, including humans, and their needs. Sports week has been a great hit. Keep up the super work and effort. You all continue to shine!
Home Learning Summer Term
It has been great to see all the learning that has been taking place at home over the last few weeks. Even though we are not together in class, we are doing similar things at home. You have been following our Home Learning Plans, as we finished off the Field to Fork topic and then learned about Florence Nightingale in our Bravery and Bandages topic. Your parents have told us you are working hard and are coping well with these strange times. Some of you have even used your time at home to learn how to ride a bike, tie your shoelaces and tell the time. We thought you'd like to see what your friends have been getting up to! Enjoy!
Keep emailing us with your work and we'll add it on to here!
We miss you lots.

Reece enjoyed learning about Florence Nightingale so much he made this amazing presentation to share his learning with you all. It must have taken a really long time to research and put together. We are really proud of you, Reece!
Welcome back everyone, we hope you had a lovely half term.
Our topic this term is called From Field to Fork. During this half term, we will be looking at where our food comes from, life cycles of plants and their conditions for growth and looking at artists who use food to make their artwork.
To start our topic off we looked at the ingredients used to make pancakes and spoke about where each of the ingredients comes from. Mrs Wilkins then showed us how to make pancakes.
In topic this week we learnt about fair trade and why it exists. The children acted out the roles of the farmers, factory workers, shop keepers and the C.E.O. When they were paid for their roles they realised how poorly treated the farmers were for all their hard work.
We had a super day at Cadbury’s World. First we walked through the Aztec Jungle, then headed to Bull Street in Birmingham where we met John Cadbury. We learnt how chocolate is made and the history of how Cadbury began. We then had a go at tempering chocolate and had fun writing our names out of chocolate! Then came our favourite part of the day, tasting the yummy chocolate! We each had melted chocolate with two toppings. Yum yum! What a tasty day!
It was fantastic to see so many wonderful homework projects about the Seaside. A huge well done!
Welcome back Orange Class!
Our new topic is called ‘Does Chocolate grow on Trees?’
Today in topic we tasted three different flavours of Mayan hot chocolate which were cinnamon, ginger and chilli. What a tasteful start to the new half term!
A big thank you to the family members that attended our Open Afternoon. Orange Class had a great afternoon and enjoyed making their Punch and Judy puppets and theatres. They were fantastic!
Welcome back everyone, we hope you had a fabulous summer and are now feeling nice and refreshed ready for a fun filled year in Orange Class.
We had a great first week in year 2, we learnt a poem about the seaside, went to the beach and even ate chips!
