When the children brought in their toys we spent a lot of time concentrating and developing the skill of drawing the toys accurately. We focused on the different shapes you can see on the toys, the different colours and how you can change the way you use your pencil to show different shades.
Autumn Open Afternoon
Meet our Families!
Along with the other Year 1 classes, Red Class worked on differentiating between different houses by making 3D models of them. We used different sized boxes and worked in groups to make; semi-detached houses, detached houses, flats, bungalows, caravans, cottages and palaces.
The children really enjoyed taking part in Mindfulness Day 2019 as part of Mental Health Awareness week. We spoke about all the different feelings we may feel daily and techniques on how to manage these. The children created wonderful things to show different emotions and discussed with each other what they are good at.
Our class trip to Sudbury Hall the Museum of Childhood
This week in Red Class we have been looking at ordering numbers and objects from greatest to least. To finish we have also been looking at ordinal numbers and putting them in the correct order, with matching them to the written word.
Today all of Red Class enjoyed watching Pinocchio with the other infant children. All the children had to learn some songs before the performance began and some children were selected to be in the show! The children all really enjoyed themselves and continued to do Pinocchio related things for the rest of the day!
