Term 6
Wow, what a busy first week back we’ve had. We’ve been tasting hot chocolate, been on a treasure hunt to find a golden ticket to go to Cadbury World, learning the history of chocolate and then finally a visit to Cadbury World.
This afternoon the Year2 children were given the chance to play on the brand park behind school. They had lots of fun on the zip wire, roundabout and climbing equipment.
Maths - Fractions
This week we have been learning about fractions and understanding what a whole is. We were given slices of bread and had to cut them into sandwiches. We discussed what fraction our friends sandwich was cut into and spoke about what was the and different. Some people’s sandwiches were cut into halves so we knew that 2 halves equals a whole. We also had some people’s sandwiches cut into quarters, so we knew that 4 quarters equals a whole.
Titanic Experience
This morning we were all given a ticket to board the Titanic. We chose our tickets randomly so it was a surprise as to which class we were in. First class passengers were welcomed on board and shown to their area and had servants to wait on them. They were given a choice of food and drink. They were also able to access all areas including the gymnasium, library, pool etc. Second class passengers were shown to their area and were told they could access the library and smoke room where they would be able to mix with the First class passengers. Third class passengers were then shown to their area.

This week in maths we have been looking at shapes. We counted how many sides and vertices each shape has. Miss Preston then set us a challenge to make some 2d shapes with a piece of string. Can you tell which shapes we made?

Today we had a visit from David the Bee Farmer to support our English work. We learnt lots of interesting facts, looked at parts of a hive and even made our paper bee.
