Fire Safety Talk
Today we have had a visit from Kate from Derbyshire Fire and Rescue Service. She spoke to us about the dangers of matches and lighters, the main causes of fire in the home, the importance of having working smoke alarms, making an escape plan at home and the importance of STOP, DROP, ROLL.
Derby County Trip 6/11/18
Yesterday we visited Derby County Football club. To start with Orange Class were given a quiz to complete. To find the answers we had to search around the outside of the stadium. We also went on a tour of the stadium including the changing rooms which were a little bit smelly! Finally we all got the chance to enter a colouring competition where we had to colour a picture of Rami the mascot and our guide Sarah chose a winner. The winner won two tickets to a football match!
7th September 2018
Welcome back everyone. We hope you all had a fabulous summer holiday and are ready for a super year.
Tuesday 24th April 2018 - Zorbing Fun
We have been working so hard this year that the teachers thought we needed a treat. We had lots of fun 'zorbing' around the room, letting off some steam.
This term our topic is all about Titanic and the children are all very excited to find out lots of interesting facts.
We have looked at the difference between 1st,2nd and 3rd class and yesterday the children got chance to 'experience' those classes. Each child chose a ticket at random. They were then welcomed aboard and shown to their class. After eating, we relaxed in the different areas. The 1st class passengers were allowed in the gymnasium, smoke room, swimming pool, deck, dining areas, lounge etc. 2nd class were allowed in a few of the 1st class areas whereas 3rd class were only allowed in the lounge, their dining area and a smoke room.
In topic we looked at some artwork by Giuseppe Arcimboldo. He used fruit and vegetables to create his pictures.
We worked in groups to create a face in the same style.
Welly Wednesday week 2
This week on Welly Wednesday we all worked super hard to continue clearing the courtyard. We cleared over 20 buckets of moss off the ground, collected lots of leaves and cleaned the tables and water trays. The area is starting to look much tidier now. Well done everyone.
Welcome back, we hope you all had a great Christmas and are ready to start our new topic- From field to fork. During this topic we will be working together to revamp our school garden. Each week we will have Welly Wednesday where we will spend time in the garden preparing the beds, growing plants and making the courtyard look beautiful.
On Monday we visited Beau Barberista to have a demonstration on how a smoothie is made. The manager was extremely kind and made us a smoothie to try. He then set us a challenge to create our own smoothie. Judging will take place on Wednesday 13th December and the winning smoothie will be available to purchase in the shop.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for open afternoon. We all had lots of fun making our own sports tops. They looked fabulous!
We hope you had a lovely half term and are ready for the start of our new topic -Can I be a sporting hero?
For our hook day we looked at different types of sports. We then got creative and made our own table top games and sports clothes.
During the day whenever the whistle blew, all three classes had to go out onto the playground and line up ready to compete against each other. We played ball games, relay races and a game with a balloon. At the end of each games we cheered for the winning team.
In our topic lessons we have been looking at pottery made by T G Green. We have all designed and made our own piece of pottery in the style of T G Green.
Well done to all the children who completed the reading challenge over the summer.
During PSHE we have been reminding ourselves of the Golden Rules. We read the story that went with each rule in small groups.
Welcome back everyone. We hope you had a lovely summer. Orange Class have had a busy start to the year and are really working hard.
