At Woodville we want any work completed at home to be positive and rewarding for parents, carers and children. Before each holiday your child will come home with our Spotlight on the Curriculum which gives you a brief insight into some of the work they will be completing over the following term. It also gives you some advice as to what you could do to help your child at home.
Any homework shouldn't be done in isolation. Adults and children should work together talking about what has been learned at school and reinforcing this learning at home.
At Woodville there are 2 sets of homework that we reward children for completing.
· Daily Homework
· Read to an adult at home daily and record what has been read in the reading diary that children need to look after. We would also encourage you to ask questions about what your child has read and spend time reading to them.
· Once a week
· Complete the activities in the Home Challenge Book. Every Friday your child will bring home their Challenge Book that will provide you with information about the work they have completed that week and some activities that you can carry out with your child to further their understanding. Your child’s Home Challenge Book needs to be returned to school the following week for the class teacher to have a brief look at and award house points where appropriate.
