We hope you have all had a wonderful first half term, learning about our topic 'Let there be light'. The children have discovered how the eye works and written some wonderful Explanation texts in our Science and English lessons. They've found out about continents and countries around the world and what their climates are like (labelling a World Map with climatic zones).
Next half term we will be going 'Into the Desert.'
Please take a look at the Year 6 Spotlight on the curriculum to find out more...
Over the half term break, along with enjoying some well-earned rest, please encourage your child to begin learning their spellings (and revisit Autumn 1 words), complete any outstanding Gold Bars on Mathletics and continue to read regularly: this could be their class reading book, the Reading Eggspress 'Online Reading' or 'Reading for Pleasure'.
If your child complains that they are 'bored' this half term, they might enjoy completing some research about London and its attractions in advance of our trip there on November 20/21st. Prizes will be awarded for exceptional effort but this is an optional task!
Adults working in Class 12:
P.E: Tuesday and Friday
Spelling test: Friday
Homework: Set on a Friday
As always, if you have any queries, please do not hesitate to contact one of the Class 12 team!
Design Technology Week
As part of DT week, the children have been making ‘shadow puppets.’ Everyone partnered up to design and make 2 puppets (good and evil), with at least one having a moving part. The children wrote short stories to accompany their designs and enjoyed testing them out on our big screen. It was great fun!
Thank you for your continued effort at home, and attendance at this half term's Parent's Evenings to discuss your child's start to Year 6. It was lovely meeting you all and sharing how your child has settled into Class 12.
