Friday 5th April
We have had a very busy week this week, we have been writing persuasive letters as Michael from Kensuke’s Kingdom persuading a friend to travel around the world with us. As well as learning about avalanches in Geography. Take a look at our posters below.
Have a lovely weekend, Mrs Vernon-Thompson.
This term has been a busy one so far. We have been engrossed in Kensuke’s Kingdom by Michael Morpurgo and used this as inspiration for our writing, as well as our art work. Alongside this, we have created our own island, which our characters have been to during our adventure story hot writes.
During our forgiveness collective worship theme, we wrote our own teaspoon prayers- thank you, sorry, please. We then decorated them for a display in our classroom.
This week has been a busy week in Class 11, with us revising and applying written methods for solving multiplication and division calculations and then applying these to written two step word problems. We have also been learning about lines of latitude and researching how to care for your hair as part of our Talk for Writing Explanation text topic.
Our new text map
Reading in Paradise
This week, we have started our new English unit: explanation texts. This started with a game of Catchphrase, where the children had to guess what an image linked to our model text was, by removing a square at a time. A great time was had by all. We have also been reading for pleasure in our reading area.
Class 11 have had a busy week, innovating and writing our change stories linked to Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde. As well as revising written methods for calculating multiplication questions and applying these to solve multi-step word problems. Remember to keep practising your times tables!
This week we have been writing about Jekyll and Hyde and we have our first two published pieces of writing on our Year 6 Incredible Writers display. A big well done to Sophie and Liam, keep up the fabulous writing.
Class 11 have had a brilliant first full week in year 6. We have been internalising our text map in English and analysing features used by the author. As well as learning about the inside and outside of the eye and labelling the different parts correctly. Everyone has been working really hard and made an excellent start to year 6.
Our Art work based on the poem: ‘The Light Upon The Sea.’
